Ofsted
Ofsted inspectors visited Idle Church of England Primary School in January 2025, marking an important milestone in our school’s journey of improvement.
We are proud that the inspection recognised many of the strengths of our school. Inspectors highlighted our “high expectations for all pupils’ achievement” and acknowledged that “the school has taken necessary action to improve the curriculum in the last three years.” They also noted that the work of current leaders, supported by the local authority and the diocese, is “starting to improve the quality of education.”
Personal development was identified as a particular strength. Inspectors recognised the wide range of opportunities available to pupils, noting that “the school provides a variety of extra-curricular opportunities” and offers leadership roles that “encourage pupils to make positive contributions to the school community.”
The report also reflects the positive culture within our school, highlighting that pupils are taught to be “ready, respectful and safe,” and that “pupils’ behaviour is calm and positive.” It further recognises that pupils who require additional support with behaviour are “very well supported.”
Importantly, the inspection acknowledges the significant period of change and development the school has undergone in recent years. Inspectors recognised that improvements are underway, noting that “actions are starting to bear fruit” and that “green shoots are emerging” within our community engagement.
We are pleased that the report recognises both the strengths of our school and the progress we are making. The areas identified for further development align with our own school improvement priorities, and we are actively addressing these to ensure continued improvement.
We remain fully committed to working in partnership with our families, the local authority and the diocese to ensure that every child at Idle Church of England Primary School has the opportunity to thrive, grow and flourish.
