Our Curriculum
At Idle Church of England Primary School, we provide a rich and engaging curriculum that inspires a love of learning and enables all children to flourish. Rooted in our Christian vision of growing together, we aim to nurture curiosity, resilience and a lifelong thirst for knowledge.
We carefully design meaningful learning experiences that support both academic achievement and personal development. Through these experiences, children develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to make sense of the world around them and to become confident, successful learners.
Our curriculum reflects the needs of our pupils and our local community. We recognise the importance of building on children’s prior experiences, while also broadening their horizons and ensuring they have access to opportunities that enrich their understanding of the wider world.
We follow the National Curriculum, adapting it to create a broad, balanced and relevant offer that motivates and engages our learners.

We make purposeful links between subjects where appropriate, helping children to connect their learning and deepen their understanding. Enrichment opportunities, including visits, visitors and wider experiences, further enhance our curriculum and contribute to pupils’ cultural capital.
Our Christian values of love, courage and joy underpin all aspects of school life, including our curriculum. Through carefully chosen texts, discussions and learning experiences, pupils are encouraged to reflect on their own values, develop empathy and consider their role within both the local and global community.
Teaching and learning are focused on equipping pupils with the essential knowledge and skills they need for the next stage of their education. We strive to ensure that every child leaves Idle C of E Primary School well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of secondary school and beyond.
