Reception is a wonderful and exciting year, marking the beginning of your child’s school journey. It is a year full of discovery, curiosity and new experiences, where children develop a love of learning as they grow into confident, happy and independent individuals.
Our Reception curriculum provides a stimulating and nurturing environment in which children can explore, investigate and learn through play. Through a balance of child-led activities and focused teaching, children are supported and challenged to develop their skills across all areas of learning, including reading, writing and mathematics. We encourage children to follow their interests, ask questions and make meaningful connections through hands-on experiences and exploration.
A key focus in Reception is developing the fundamental skills that will support children throughout their education. We help children to build positive relationships, make new friendships and develop the confidence to express themselves and work alongside others. Through rich language experiences, storytelling, discussion and purposeful play, children are encouraged to extend their vocabulary, communication skills and understanding of the world around them.
In Reception, every child is valued as an individual and encouraged to learn at their own pace. We celebrate achievements, nurture resilience and foster independence, ensuring that children feel safe, supported and excited about coming to school each day. We look forward to working in partnership with families to provide a happy, successful and inspiring start to your child’s education.
