Idle Church of England Primary School

Being a Church of England School

Growing Together with Love, Courage and Joy

At Idle CE Primary School, our Christian foundation shapes who we are and how we live and learn together. Inspired by the Parable of the Mustard Seed, we believe that small acts of love, courage and kindness can grow into something remarkable.

As a Church of England school, we are a school for the whole community. Everyone is welcome, valued and encouraged to flourish, regardless of faith, belief or background. Our Christian vision influences our relationships, decision-making, curriculum and daily life, helping us create a culture where all can grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

Our Partnership with Holy Trinity Church

We are proud of our close relationship with Holy Trinity Church, Idle, which plays an important role in the life of our school.

Reverend Jim is a regular and valued presence within our school community, leading collective worship, supporting special events and helping children explore Christian faith and values in meaningful and engaging ways.

Throughout the year, we worship and celebrate together through services held at Holy Trinity Church, including:

  • Harvest Festival
  • Christingle
  • Christmas Celebrations
  • Easter Services
  • Leavers' Service

These occasions strengthen the connection between school, church and community, whilst helping children develop a deeper understanding of faith, reflection and belonging.

Living Our Vision Together

Our partnership with Holy Trinity Church supports us in living out our vision of:

Growing Together with Love, Courage and Joy

Together, we seek to:

  • Show love through kindness, compassion and service to others.
  • Demonstrate courage by standing up for what is right and embracing new challenges.
  • Experience joy through learning, celebration and community.

Children are encouraged to reflect on how they can make a positive difference in the world around them and contribute to the common good.

A Community Where Everyone Belongs

We firmly believe that when a child joins Idle CE Primary School, they become part of a wider family.

By working together with Holy Trinity Church, families, governors and the wider community, we create a welcoming environment where people feel known, valued and supported. Each member of our community brings unique gifts and experiences, enriching school life and helping everyone to flourish.

Through these strong partnerships, we prepare children not only for the next stage of education, but also for life in a diverse and changing world.

Collective Worship

Collective Worship is a special and valued part of life at Idle CE Primary School. Each day, pupils and adults come together to reflect, learn and grow through our vision of Growing Together with Love, Courage and Joy.

Rooted in our Christian foundation and Anglican tradition, worship provides opportunities to explore Bible teachings, Christian values and the example of Jesus, while encouraging reflection on ourselves, others and the world around us.

Our worship is inclusive, invitational and inspiring, ensuring that everyone feels welcomed, respected and able to participate in a meaningful way. Pupils also play an active role through our team of Worship Leaders, who help to shape and lead aspects of worship across the school.

Through Collective Worship, we nurture a strong sense of community and belonging, helping all pupils and adults to flourish spiritually, socially and emotionally.
