School Uniform

 At Idle Church of England Primary School, our uniform reflects our Christian values of love, courage and joy. We believe that taking pride in our appearance helps to create a sense of belonging, equality and respect within our school community.

We aim for our uniform to be smart, practical and affordable, ensuring that all children feel comfortable and ready to learn.

Our Expectations

We ask all pupils to wear the following:

  • Black or dark grey trousers, skirt or pinafore dress
  • White polo shirt or white shirt
  • Red sweatshirt or cardigan (school logo optional)
  • All-black shoes or trainers with black soles

Additional guidance:

  • Skirts and shorts should be at least mid-thigh length
  • Hair accessories should be small and simple
  • Makeup and nail varnish are not permitted
  • Jewellery is not allowed (except one pair of stud earrings and a watch – no smart watches)
  • All items should be clearly labelled with your child’s name

We are committed to inclusivity and will consider requests for adaptations in line with our equality duties.

PE Kit

All children take part in two PE lessons each week and should come to school in their PE kit on these days. Please speak to your child's class teacher about their PE days.

PE Kit:

  • Plain white t-shirt
  • Black shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms
  • Plain black hoodie or sweatshirt or the optional red PE hoodie 
  • Suitable trainers (no fashion trainers such as Vans or Converse)

For safety:

  • Jewellery must be removed
  • Long hair must be tied back

Swimming Kit

  • Swimming costume or above-the-knee trunks
  • Swimming cap 
  • Towel and swimming bag
  • Goggles (optional)

All non-branded items can be purchased from any retailer, in line with government guidance on keeping uniform costs low

Pre-Loved Uniform and Support

We are committed to supporting all families.

  • A pre-loved uniform shop is available at the school office
  • Financial support may be available for families eligible for Free School Meals
  • Vouchers for uniform can be provided where appropriate

We appreciate the support of parents and carers in ensuring children come to school in the correct uniform. If needed, we will work with families to support any difficulties.
