At Idle Church of England Primary School, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. All staff adopt a child-centred approach, ensuring that the best interests of every child are at the heart of all decisions and actions.

We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where all children feel protected, valued and able to thrive.

We aim to:

  • Take prompt and appropriate action to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children
  • Ensure all staff understand their statutory safeguarding responsibilities
  • Provide regular, high-quality training so staff can recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns effectively
  • Deliver a preventative, whole-school approach, preparing pupils to stay safe in modern Britain

Safeguarding is embedded across all areas of school life and underpins our commitment to supporting pupils’ wellbeing and development.

Keeping Our Children Safe

We take a proactive, preventative approach to safeguarding. This includes:

  • Online safety and digital awareness
  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Anti-bullying and positive behaviour
  • Personal safety and healthy relationships
  • The Prevent duty and keeping children safe from radicalisation

Through our curriculum and wider school life, we prepare pupils to stay safe and make positive choices in modern Britain.

What To Do If You Have a Concern

If you are worried about a child’s safety or wellbeing:

  • Contact the school office and ask to speak to a member of the safeguarding team
  • Speak to a trusted member of staff as soon as possible
